PUB NEWS: Barman Louis is the champ at the Brewers Arms

THE Brewers Arms at South Petherton held its very own Pub Olympics over the weekend to help raise funds for the Yeovil unit of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Contestants had to compete over five disciplines – skittles, darts, table tennis, table football and shove ha’penny.

And it was the Brewers very own barman, Louis Hockey, who emerged victorious to take the crown of Pub Olympic champion.

The event helped to raise £150 for the Macmillan unit which is based at Yeovil District Hospital.

A number of events have been held at the Brewers in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support in recent months with pub local Alex Kersey-Brown, 72, having undergone treatment for lung cancer.

He has been so impressed with the support he has received from the Macmillan cancer team at the hospital that he has been raising money for the unit.
