CHRISTMAS 2014: Festive countdown in South Petherton

THE countdown to Christmas got underway in South Petherton earlier this month with the switching-on of the festive lights.

A number of shops stayed open for the celebration while Christmas carols and songs were the order of the day in the Square and at Blake Hall, while Stoke Silver Band, community groups and village school children staged displayed and activities.

The award-winning Brewers Arms hosted its annual Christmas craft fair with more than 25 stalls and a host of festive refreshments including mine pies, mulled wine and cider.

While younger visitors to the craft fair were able to meet up with the main man himself – Father Christmas who had popped in to say “ho-ho-ho.”
