SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Screaming Zombies all set for Hallowe’en skydive!

A GROUP of self-confessed “crazy people” from South Petherton Hospital will be doing something very scary for Hallowe’en on Friday (October 31, 2014) – a tandem skydive!

Staff nurse Nicola Price and healthcare assistants Sarah Martin and Ali Goodman will be taking the plunge at Dunkeswell near Honiton.

There were due to be joined by their hospital colleague Kerry McKerrow, of Chard, but she has had to withdraw due to medical reasons, but her husband, Andrew McKerrow, has heroically stepped in to take her place.

The daring four have called themselves the Screaming Zombies and they are raising money for the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People – in particular the Let’s Hear it for Deaf Children Campaign.SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Screaming Zombies all set for Hallowe’en skydive!

Kerry, who is desperately disappointed not to be making the skydive, said: “This is a charity very close to my family’s heart since we first came into contact with them in 2012 when my son Logan made a paper Olympic torch that went on its own relay around the UK and abroad and raised more than £34,000.

“As a family target we are trying to raise £50,000 which will fund one Hearing Dog for its lifetime from breeding to training, to vet bills to retirement and everything else in between.”

The fundraising total now stands at around £38,000 – so there’s still a little way to go before the £50k goal is reached.

Kerry said they would like to send out special thanks to eight wonderful sponsors - B. Gibbs Funeral Services, Chard; Chard Rotary Club; Prince of Wales Pub, Ham Hill; Rosemill Feeds, Ilminster; Caravan & Motorhome Solutions, Chard; Wetroom Solutions; Halstock, Yeovil; Foto Finish, Chard.

The Screaming Zombies would be hugely grateful if you could help towards the skydive target of £1,000 by making a small donation either to the Just Giving Page https://www.justgiving.com/TheScreamingZombies/ or you can donate by text by texting ZOMB53 £5 to 70070.
