YEOVIL NEWS: Opening night success for Jekyll and Hyde

THE opening night of Yeovil Amateur Operatic Society’s production of Jekyll and Hyde has been hailed a success.

The show opened last night (Tuesday, October 7, 2014) at the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil and will run again every night this week before the final performance on Saturday (October 11, 2014).

Evening performances start at 7.30pm, while there is also a matinee on the Saturday at 2.30pm.

The society’s vice-chairman, Lynn Lee Brown, was thrilled by last night’s opening performance.

“I honestly think this has to be the best ever,” she said on social networking Facebook. “The drama and singing – all I can say is WOW!

“Don’t miss out on this amazing show – get your tickets today!”

Tickets are on sale form the Octagon box office on 01935-422884. Tickets for evening shows are priced £17, while the Saturday matinee is £14.

The show’s musical director, Kat Stevens, speaking on social networking Twitter, said: “It was a pretty incredible opening night. I was gripped…and I’ve seen it 1,000 times!”

The haunting musical is a thriller based on the novel The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde written by Robert Louis Stevenson.

The key dual-role of Dr Jekyll and the murderous Mr Hyde is played superbly by Luke Whitchurch with his “love interests” in the show being Emma Carew (played by Naomi Riglar) and Lucy Harris (played by Jennifer Holland-Brewer).
