YEOVIL NEWS: Ho-ho-ho and Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum this year at Octagon Theatre

THE countdown to the Christmas period has started today (Monday, September 22, 2014) with the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil launching news of its annual pantomime.

This year it will be the ever-popular Jack and the Beanstalk and cast members and panto producers, Evolution Productions, were at the award-winning theatre to meet with the Press and photographers.

Paul Hendy and Emily Wood, who started Evolution Productions back in 2005, are delighted to be back at the Octagon for the third successive year following on from Aladdin in 2012 and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 2013.YEOVIL NEWS: Ho-ho-ho and Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum this year at Octagon Theatre

And Paul said: “I can’t believe this is our third year at the Octagon – it just goes to show how fast time goes when you are having fun.”

Jack and the Beanstalk will run from Friday, December 5, 2014, to Sunday, January 4, 2015.

The Octagon’s Adam Burgan said: “We are excited to present another wonderful festive season which, this year, we have extended to 49 fun-filled performances.”

The lead role of Jack Trott will be played Oliver Watton while he will be accompanied by his on-stage mother, Dame Trott (played by Sam Rabone), and the ever-popular Eddie Dredge who will play his brother, Billy Trott.

It will be Eddie’s third panto appearance at the Octagon having played Muddles in Snow White last year and then Dandini in Cinderella in 2011.

But this will be Eddie’s first-year at the Octagon directing the panto.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” he told the Yeovil Press earlier today. “It’s going to be so much good fun.

“But we’ve got a really strong cast and that is going to make my life directing very much easier.”

Another member of the cast who will be no stranger to the Octagon will be Victoria McCabe who will take the role of the Princess in the panto.

Victoria played the lead role of Snow White in last year’s panto at the Octagon, while she was a dancer in Aladdin in 2012.

Other main roles see Andrew Fettes as Fleshcreep, Laura-Jane Matthewson as Fairy Sugarsnap and Ieuan Rhys as the King, while there will also be members of the Sarah Spratt Dancers on board.
