YEOVIL NEWS: Crossing plans for West Coker Road

SOMERSET County Council has announced that a pedestrian crossing will be installed on the busy West Coker Road in Yeovil.

Members of Yeovil Town Council’s buildings and civic matters committee were told on Tuesday (September 16, 2014) informed that the crossing will go in to the east of the junction with Beaconfield Road.

Works include the installation of a push button crossing with traffic lights, changes to the street lighting and inclusion of “high friction surfacing” in the area of the crossing.

Town clerk Alan Tawse, in a report, said: “The lighting improvements comprise the relocation and replacement of two existing columns either side of the proposed crossing and upgrading of two existing columns on the approach.”

Work is programmed to start in December this year.
