SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Ram raid at Co-op store
RAM RAIDERS failed in their attempts to make off with a cash machine from inside the Co-op store in South Petherton.
It was around 12.40am on Monday (August 25, 2014) when a suspected stolen 4x4 vehicle was reversed into the front of the Co-op store in St James Street.
A police spokesman said: “They didn’t manage to steal the ATM, but they did steal a quantity of cigarettes from the store.
“The vehicle was seen heading off in the direction of Market Square.”
The spokesman added: “There has been considerable damage to the store as a result of the burglary.”
Police are appealing for information and asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police if they have not already come forward.
