YEOVIL NEWS: Planners to discuss Milford Inn future

PLANS to convert the former Milford Inn into nine flats will be discussed this week by Yeovil Town Council.

Members of the council’s planning and licensing committee will meet tomorrow (Tuesday, August 26, 2014) to discuss the proposals put forward by Kevin Lake, a director of Somerset Care and Repair Ltd.

As previously reported on Yeovil Press on August 10, 2014, the pub in Milford Road closed its doors for the final time in 2012 and since then it has fallen into disrepair and become an eyesore.

Now Somerset Care and Repair Ltd want to transform the building into nine self-contained flats with parking for 14 cars under the Government’s Empty Homes scheme.

The pub was first built in 1949, but its demise began in the late 1990s when there was a significant decline in trading.

A final decision on the proposals will be made by South Somerset District Council.
