SOMERSET NEWS: Grill pan fire

A WOMAN was checked over by ambulance paramedics this morning (Sunday, August 17, 2014) following a fire at a flat in Somerset.

The alarm was raised at 5am after the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received reports of smoke coming from a property in Peter Street, Shepton Mallet.

Two fire engines from Shepton attended the scene and officers confirmed that there had been a small fire involving a grill pan in a cooker.

A Fire Service spokesman told the Yeovil Press: “The grill pan was removed to open air by fire crews and the property was naturally ventilated.

“One female and one dog had evacuated the property prior to our arrival. The woman was checked over by ambulance crews on scene as a precaution.”

The spokesman said the cause of the fire was believed to be accidental.
