SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Rose Neave wins Ilminster election
ROSE Neave has been declared the winner in the by-election held today (Thursday, July 31, 2014) for a seat on Ilminster Town Council.
She polled 412 votes to top the election with runner-up Paul Sainsbury having gained 302.
Third was Kim Turner with 284 and Caroline Page was fourth with 61.
Polling booths were set up at the Adult Learning Centre next to Swanmead Community School in Ditton Street and the Parish Hall at the top of North Street.
The total of 1,059 votes cast represented a 23 per cent turn out – an increase of about five per cent on the last time the council held a by-election in the town.
