YEOVIL NEWS: Missing Oliver the parrot is back home!

MISSING Oliver the parrot (pictured above) is back home in Yeovil after going missing for nearly a week.

It was last Monday (July 21, 2014) that Liz O’Malley reported that Oliver, a Congo African Grey red tail parrot, had flown off from his home in West Coker Road.

Liz put an appeal out for help to try and find him and there were a number of potential sightings made.

But it has emerged that Oliver had actually flown a bit further away from home than had been expected – several miles away to Chiselborough near Stoke-sub-Hamdon and Bowdens Riding School based at Balham Hill Farm.

Liz said: “Apparently he’d been eating apples in the orchard, drank water from the trough, sat on somebody’s arm and took a chunk out of a lady’s hand who then took him home with her to Taunton and had looked after him until now.”

A big search was started after Oliver went missing on social networking Facebook and Liz said she would like to thank everybody who went looking for the fly-away parrot and helped with spreading news about his disappearance.

“Thank you to everybody for all their sharing and caring,” she said tonight (Sunday, July 27, 2014) on Facebook. “Special thanks to Caroline Jaques and Steve Jaques for the incredible amount of help you have given us – you are truly very good friends.”

And it would appear that social networking has provided a positive result with Oliver – who is a talkative parrot and has favourite sayings such as “do you want some cheese” and “wiggle wiggle” – now back home in Yeovil.
