SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Woman rescued from water-filled ditch

A WOMAN had to be rescued this morning (Tuesday, July 2, 2014) after the car she was travelling in ended-up in a water-filled ditch.

Firefighters were mobilised at just after 6am to the incident at the A303 Podimore Roundabout.

Crews used cutting equipment and water rescue gear to rescue the casualty and hand her over to paramedics.

A spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service told the Yeovil Press that further firefighters were called out to help with the removal of the car from the ditch.

The incident has resulted in traffic delays in that part of the A303 and in and around Ilchester.
