SOMERSET NEWS: Man rescued from house fire

A MAN had to be helped to safety last night (Friday, June 27, 2014) during a house fire in Somerset.

Two fire engines from Wellington were mobilised to the incident in the town at just after 10.45pm.

Firefighters forced their way into the property and rescued one man after a fire had started within the kitchen.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire started when food was left unattended and the cooker was destroyed by fire.

“The cause of the fire was deemed accidental.”

Firefighters also gave out information to people in the local area about the importance of fire safety in the home.
