HOME FARM FEST 2014: Organisers predict record amount raised!

ORGANISERS of last weekend’s Home Farm Fest at Chilthorne Domer are predicting that a record amount has been raised for the Piers Simon Appeal and its School in a Bag project.

The three-day event – involving nearly 60 bands and performers – was blessed with decent weather and it encouraged bumper crowds to attend from June 6-8, 2014.

Last year’s festival raised a record £24,185 – but although organisers are still dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s it is looking as if that figure is going to be surpassed.

PSA & SIAB charity liaison officer Luke Simon (PICTURED RIGHT) told the Yeovil Press yesterday (Saturday, June 14, 2014): “Still awaiting confirmation, but looks like we have raised between £27,500 and £28,000.”

All money raised goes towards helping relief projects in countries hit by natural disasters and orphaned/vulnerable children around the globe.

This year’s festival had a strong line-up of music on four stages around the Home Farm Fest with headline acts on the main Dutch Barn stage being Storm, DT8 and Crimson on Silver.

The PSA was formed shortly after the death of former Preston School and Yeovil College student, Piers Simon, who was tragically killed in the Asian tsunami of Boxing Day 2004 while holidaying in Thailand.

Although the 9th Home Farm Fest is over – thoughts will already be turning to next year’s which will be the tenth anniversary festival.
