BATH & WEST 2014: Ilminster's Merietta wins Ladies Day

ILMINSTER woman Merietta Raymond last week won the annual Ladies Day award at the Royal Bath and West Show.

Merietta was declared the winner by judge Miss Bristol, Naomi Dunbar, who was impressed by her fabulous hat.

Friday (May 30, 2014) was Ladies Day where female visitors to the show were encouraged to wear their finest.

Merietta, who was persuaded to take part in the Ladies Day competition by a friend, received a pair of tickets for the Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza featuring Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters on August 9.

Runners-up were Kate Gunby, from Wells, and Fiona Richardson, from Somerton, who received either a £50 voucher for Needful Things or Holly Lane in Castle Cary.

The judging took place during a special afternoon tea following the prize giving for the Farm Woman of the Year Award which was won by Maureen Trott, of Church Farm, Lovington, near Castle Cary.
