SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: New champion of the Yard of Ale at Brewers Arms

THERE was a new champion of the Yard of Ale competition yesterday (Sunday, May 25, 2014) at the award-winning Brewers Arms in South Petherton.

Carl Marcantonio, of Yeovil, who was celebrating his birthday, drank the “yard” – two-and-a-half pints – in a time of six minutes and 47 seconds.

It did not break any records, but Carl took things steady to complete the challenge – while his two competitors both failed to finish.

The Yard of Ale competition was part of the Brewers Arms’ 20th annual beer festival.

The festival started on Friday (May 23, 2014) and finishes today (Monday, May 26, 2014).

Pub-goers have been able to enjoy more than 25 real ales, ciders, food and entertainment.
