SOMERSET NEWS: Two people taken to hospital after crash

TWO people were taken to hospital this morning (Thursday, May 22, 2014) following a crash in Somerset.

The alarm was raised at just before 6.30am to the incident on the A37 Emborough near Wells.

The Fire Service received a call from ambulance personnel and two fire engines from Shepton Mallet and a rescue tender from Glastonbury were mobilised.

Officers found one male casualty trapped inside the a vehicle, while another casualty had been release prior to their arrival.

A spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “Fire crews removed the roof using hydraulic cutting equipment to release the second casualty.

“Both casualties were conveyed to hospital by ambulance.”

Firefighters made the vehicles safe and left the incident in the hands of the police and ambulance personnel.
