SOMERSEET NEWS: Man tricks his way into home of pensioner

A HANDBAG was stolen after a man tricked his way into a Somerset home and now police are appealing for help in catching the offender.

The burglary happened between 6pm and 9pm on Monday evening (May 19, 2014) in Wellington.

Someone called at the home of a woman, who is in her 70s, and asked for a cup of water and then to use the toilet. While he was in the house he stole a black handbag which had been hanging up.SOMERSEET NEWS: Man tricks his way into home of pensioner

The incident happened at a home near the North Street car park.

DC Mark Schofield said: “An investigation into the burglary has begun and we'd like to speak to anyone who saw a white man with dark hair acting suspiciously in the area on Monday evening.”
