YEOVIL NEWS: Flood appeal concert cancelled

A CONCERT to be held in Yeovil next month to raise money for the victims of the Somerset floods has been cancelled.

Toploader, Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel and Reverend & The Makers were due to play the concert at the Westland Leisure Complex in Yeovil on Saturday, May 17, 2014.

Organiser Dan Smith has said that refunds can be obtained by people who have already bought tickets from “place of purchase.”

Dan, of SRL Promotions, said on Facebook: “I am upset that this didn’t gain the support we hoped for an feel cancelling now is the best thing to do.YEOVIL NEWS: Flood appeal concert cancelled

“I cannot risk further money if interest is not there. Obviously refunds can be obtained from place of purchase.”

Dan added: “It is a shame it has come to this – but I would like to thank the few of you that did support this.”

A concert featuring bands at the Blake Hall in Bridgwater on Friday, May 16, 2014, has also been cancelled.

The organisers had described the concerts in promotional publicity as “one of the biggest original line-ups to ever hit Bridgwater and Yeovil.”

Tickets were priced £30 each with proceeds going to the Somerset Community Foundation to help with the clean-up operation after the floods.
