SOMERSET NEWS: Cow rescued from river bank
A RESCUE operation was carried out yesterday (Wednesday, April 23, 2014) to help a cow which had got stuck on a muddy river bank in Somerset.
The Fire Service received a called at just after 6.30pm to the incident at Gaunts Road at Pawlett near Bridgwater.
One fire engine and a specialist rescue team from Bridgwater attended the scene and officers found one cow located in a small tidal inlet of the River Parrett.
Further support from Exeter was called in to assist with the rescue.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “Fire crews released the cow from the edge of the river bank using a winch and rescue lines.
“They then removed the cow over the top of a ridge in the river bank to a place of safety. The care of the cow was then left with the farmer.”
