SOMERSET NEWS: Elderly woman gets stuck in mud

AN ELDERLY woman was rescued by firefighters this afternoon (Wednesday, April 9, 2014) after getting stuck in mud in Somerset.

The alarm was raised at just after 12.45pm to the incident in Riversmead Walk, Bridgwater, after police reported an elderly lady stuck in the mud between the canal and river.

Two fire engines from Bridgwater were mobilised, along with a special rescue team from Exeter, and officers were able to rescue her using a roof ladder.

A spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “She was left in the hands of paramedics to be checked over.”
