RUNNERS will be taking part in the Sport Relief Mile in Yeovil tomorrow (Sunday, March 23, 2014) at the Yeovil Recreation Centre.

People will be lining up at the centre – better known as Mudford Rec – to run one, three or six miles.

Event organiser David Blackwell, who is leisure projects officer at South Somerset District Council, said:  “We are delighted that lots of people have already signed up but we want even more to take part and make it the best Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile at Yeovil yet.Good luck to the Sport Relief runners

“This is the fourth time South Somerset District Council has hosted the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile and we are delighted to have Terry Skiverton and Darren Way from Yeovil Town FC on board to support us again.”

David added: “Activities begin at 10am and we’re going to make a morning of it at the Rec with plenty of free activities including circus skills, PlayArt and football skills with Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust.

“To make sure that all willing walkers and super sprinters are raring to go, staff from 1610’s Preston Sports Centre will be on hand to warm participants up.

“Everyone is welcome to come along, don’t worry if you’ve not yet registered as you can turn up on the day and join in the fun.”

Yeovil Town assistant manager, Terry Skiverton, said: “I'm really pleased to be involved again. We had a go last time and it was great fun and Sport Relief is such a good idea for fund raising."

Activites start at 10am with the Sport Relief run beginning at 10.45am.
