One person taken to hospital after road collision near Chard

ONE person has been taken to hospital this morning (Thursday, March 20, 2014) following a road accident near Chard.

The two-vehicle incident happened at around 6am this morning near Kent Road in Perry Street, South Chard, Tatworth.

Police are reporting that the road is currently blocked both ways as recovery work is underway.

Two fire engines and a rescue tender were mobilised and officers reported that one person was trapped.

They used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the casualty who was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

This has been reported at 8.10am.

UPDATE - 10.50am. The incident has now been cleared.
