Lord of the Wedding Rings on TV

WHEN you want to debate the pros and cons of whether pre-nuptial agreements will undermine marriage…who better to call on than Somerton’s very own Lord of the Wedding Rings.

Ron Sheppard, 65, who has been wed eight times and is Britain’s most married man, will be a guest on TV tomorrow (Sunday, March 2, 2014) morning on the BBC1 discussion programme The BIG Questions hosted by Nicky Campbell.

He was 19 when he first tied the knot and has gone on to do it another seven times.

At the last count Ron has eight children, 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Lord of the Wedding Rings on TV

He has since gone on to write a book entitled Lord of the Wedding Rings and there is talk of his story being turned into a Hollywood movie.

The introduction of a pre-nuptial agreement law which would allow couples to get the terms of a divorce even before they get married is being discussed at Westminster.

The proposals could also include rules to combat so-called “gold-diggers” – but critics have said that it would undermine marriage.

The Law Commission has said that making pre and post-nuptial agreements legally binding would make it easier for couples to manage their finances after splitting up.

We will wait to see what Ron has to say about the subject tomorrow on TV.

The BIG Questions show will be televised at 10am on BBC1.
