Charity night of skittles and darts to raise funds for Great Wall trek

PUB-GOERS at the Crown Inn in Ilminster will be doing "their bit" this weekend to help fund a trip of a lifetime for a local girl.

Emilee Rolls is raising £3,100 for the Alzheimer’s Society in order to take part in a six-day trek along the Great Wall of China later this year.

Now the Crown Inn in West Street is hoping to raise a load of money for the cause on Saturday (March 1, 2014) evening with a darts and skittles night.

The darts competition will cost £2 to enter and the winner will receive a £50 cash prize. Crown landlord David Mears told the Yeovil Press that to keep the darts competition interesting – the game will not be the usual format!Charity night of skittles and darts to raise funds for Great Wall trek

The skittles competition, meanwhile, will also cost £2 to enter where entrants will have 12 balls in order to hit as many pins as possible. Again there will be a £50 prize for the winner.

David added: “Emilee has amassed some fantastic prizes and we’ll be holding a raffle.”

There will also be a chance for people to take part in a game where you have to “roll a pound” and the person closest to a bottle of whisky will win it.

David said: “This is a really important charity to raise funds for – so please help us raise as much as we can.”

All the fun should be taking place from around 7.30pm onwards.

Emilee’s adventure along the Great Wall of China will take place from October 18-27 this year.

“I am raising both money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society by doing this because as a care and support worker for the elderly I have seen at first hand the devastating effects dementia can have on both the person and their families,” she said on her own Just Giving online fundraising page.
