Washing machine fire

FIREFIGHTERS were called out last night (Tuesday, February 25, 2014) to deal with a washing machine which had caught fire at a home.

The alarm was raised at just before 8.30pm to the incident in Furland Road, Crewkerne, and firefighters from the town as well as neighbouring Yeovil and Beaminster attended.

They discovered that the fire involved a washing machine within the conservatory of the building.

Officers asked for Western Power Distribution engineers to attend as the fire had involved the electrical fuse box and meter in the two-storey property.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.”
