More free rape alarms handed out in Yeovil to vulnerable females

POLICE in Yeovil town centre last night (Saturday, February 15, 2014) continued their efforts to try and make women feel safer.

Officers presented the Yeovil Street Pastors with another 50 rape alarms to hand out to “vulnerable females” in the town.

It comes following a number of incidents in Yeovil in recent weeks involving alleged sexual assaults on women.

Street Pastors are a church-based organisation where volunteers help to patrol the town centre in Yeovil on Friday and Saturday nights and offer practical help and a listening ear to pub-goers.

A statement on the Street Pastors website said: “Whether you’ve had too much to drink and are staggering home on high heels, lost your mates, got in a fight, or you really just want someone to talk to about what’s been happening in your life – we’re here to help.”
