Kidney transplant Liana is congratulated by MP

KIDNEY transplant recipient Liana Tolland has been thrilled after receiving a letter of congratulations from Yeovil MP David Laws.

It was last month when Liana’s long wait for a kidney transplant came to fruition when she underwent the operation at Southmead Hospital in Bristol.Kidney transplant Liana is congratulated by MP

Liana, 21, is now back at home in Yeovil recovering and taking things steady on the road to recovery.

But she told the Yeovil Press tonight (Saturday, February 15, 2014) that she was overjoyed and “very proud” to have received a letter from the Yeovil MP this week.

Mr Laws said he was delighted to hear that Yeovil College student Liana had undergone the transplant operation and that he wanted to send his personal “congratulations on this brilliant news” to her.

He said he could only imagine how difficult the wait must have been to find a donor and that he was impressed about her “efforts to raise awareness of the organ donor list.”

Liana had been waiting for over three years for a kidney transplant after falling seriously ill while in Uganda in 2010.

Once fit and well again Liana is looking forward to returning to her studies, travelling and helping to promote the organ donor scheme.
