Council needs to act on underpass CCTV

A COUNCILLOR has said that CCTV cameras are desperately needed to be installed to monitor a trouble hot-spot in Yeovil.

Cllr Andrew Kendall said at the Area South committee meeting of South Somerset District Council this afternoon (Wednesday, February 5, 2014) that the authority needed to be “pro-active” in helping safety and security in the underpass by Yeovil District Hospital.

It comes following a number of frightening and unsavoury incidents in the area in recent months.

Cllr Kendall told councillors that “the people were asking for CCTV” to be installed.

“We need to be pro-active on this,” he said.

It was agreed that Cllr Kendall would have a meeting with council officers to discuss the matter further.
