Free panic alarms for ladies in Yeovil

WOMEN will be able to get a free panic alarm in Yeovil town centre this weekend.

Street pastors and beat manager PC Amanda Thomas will be offering the alarms to ladies who are out and about in the town centre tonight (Friday, January 31, 2014) and tomorrow (Saturday, February 1, 2014).

The move comes following a serious sexual assault in the town centre last weekend and other incidents in recent weeks.

Police announced the move to hand out free panic alarms via their own social networking Twitter site.

It is hoped that the panic alarms will help to make ladies feel safer at night.

Other advice is for ladies to stick together in groups and, at the end of the night, make sure they either arrange for a lift home or get a taxi.
