FIREFIGHTERS were called out this afternoon (January 1, 2014) to deal with a car which had got stuck in floodwater near Ilminster.

The alarm was raised at just after 12.15pm to Donyatt, a small village just outside of Ilminster which is prone to flooding.

Fire engines from Ilminster and Chard and the special rescue team from Bridgwater were sent out.

Firefighters got the occupants of the car to safety and towed the vehicle out of the water.

Fire Service advice remains the same – do not drive through floodwater.
