Dodgy electrical socket sparks Fire Service call out

FIREFIGHTERS were called out yesterday (Sunday, December 28, 2013) to deal with a dodgy electrical socket at a home in Yeovil.

The alarm was raised at just before 2.15pm following reports of the small of burning and smoke coming from an electrical socket at a home in Celandine Road at Brympton.

Two fire engines from Yeovil were mobilised and firefighters discovered there had been a small fire involving an electrical socket attached to a tumble drier. The fire was out by the time they arrived.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “We inspected the premises to ensure it was safe and assisted the elderly occupant with arranging an electrician to attend.

“The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental.”
