Hopes high for Post Office return

THERE are hopes that Post Office facilities may return to a heavily populated area of Yeovil.

The Westfield estate has been without a post office for a number of years after the former facilities in Coronation Avenue closed.

A recent survey and questionnaire carried out among people living on the Westfield estate showed that one of their main priorities for the community was to see all-important post office services return.Hopes high for Post Office return

Councillors from South Somerset District Council and members of the Westfield Community Association are now hoping that that dream might become a reality with some sort of Post Office facilities based in the Co-op store in Stiby Road.

The council’s neighbourhood development officer, Marie Ainsworth, has been working closely with the Post Office  and Co-op.

James Divall, the council’s community health and well-being project manager, said: “Fingers-crossed that the post office might happen.”

Cllr Ian Martin, speaking at the council’s Area South committee meeting this month, said: “We are making progress with the Post Office and Marie Ainsworth is really on the case and giving us regular reports.”
