A police spokesman told the Yeovil Press: "There have been several thefts from motor vehicles in the town in the past couple of weeks and motorists are asked to ensure they leave their vehicles secure and that no personal property is left on display.

"Homeowners are also asked to check their sheds and outbuildings to make sure they too are secure and that any valuable property is left out of sight wherever possible and marked with your postcode and house number."

Anyone with information can call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org .
