Zombies are heading for Yeovil

ZOMBIES are the theme for the next Zero Project Under-18 event which is to be held at Club Neo in Yeovil later this month.

The event will be staged at the venue in Stars Lane, Yeovil, on Wednesday, October 30, from 7pm to 11pm and it will entry will cost £5 at the door.

To get young clubbers into the Hallowe'en spirit, there will be prizes for the best Zombie and Hallowe'en themed activities.

Zero has been successfully running under 18 events during school holidays for the past five years for Year Nine students upwards since 2007 and attract young people from across Somerset and Dorset.

Cllr Ian Martin added: "Another great event coming up for all our young friends at Club Neo. Always a fabulous and safe evening with something new breaking each time.”Zombies are heading for Yeovil

One parent of a young clubber told Yeovil Press she was "highly impressed" with the Zero Project initiative.

"I was highly impressed by the complete organisation of the last event and as I said before my daughter and her friends had a wonderful time and felt safe," she said. "They are already planning their next visit to you for Halloween!!

“As a parent it is highly reassuring to know that they are in a happy and secure environment. It is a win win situation for parent and child alike.

"I have since spoken to several parents who had worries and doubts about the evening and did not let their children attend; and having expressed my admiration and positive reviews, it seems that their children will now be allowed to attend the next event.”

The aim of the Zero project, which is supported by the local police, district and county councils, REACH, local schools, youth organisations and parents is to reduce anti-social and binge drinking by providing a safe, alcohol free environment where young people can enjoy a good night of music and dance.

This is done by carrying out random breath testing and bag searches on entry.  Parents are expected to ensure that their children have a safe route home and the Zero team endeavours to ensure a safe passage to the nearby Stars Lane car park at the end of the evening.

A further Christmas Party is being planned for Monday, December 23, at Club Neo.
