A Marie Curie charity spokesman said: “Thank you to everyone who took part in the Ladies Driving Challenge.

“We hope the ladies had a great experience of this event and your efforts will help our nurses provide vital end-of-life care across the UK.”

The charity would also like to thank all the organisations who were able to support the event with vehicles, plus personnel at RNAS Merryfield for their co-operation in hosting the event.

Among those taking part in the event was Nadine Hawes, of Somerton, who had raised more than £1,500 herself for Marie Curie.

“This is the second time I’ve done the Ladies Driving Challenge and I really enjoy it,” she said.
