THE Yeovil-based Yarlington Housing Group is doing all it can to ensure that it is able to make quick decisions at the click of the button - that's official!

Being under increasing pressure to make decisions that are quick, evidence-based and resident-focussed has resulted in Yarlington developing a system which has been recognised by the UK IT Industry awards.

Now as they are judged in a national arena against companies such as Barclay's Bank, Scottish FA and HMRC in their category, Yarlington Housing Group is demonstrating to the judges their solution to link in-house and external third-party data using a specialised computer system.

Yarlington's head of information, Karen Dumper, said: “This project demonstrates our need to understand our working practices, our neighbourhoods and most importantly, our residents.“Quick info at the click of a button

The team who faced the judges in the final round demonstrated to the UK IT Industry what a relatively small business by comparison like a housing group can achieve to change the way it operates.

Yarlington's information planning manager, Chris Reed, added: "Our position is a humble one, we’ve seen the way this project has impacted on our organisation, and has the potential to impact on many other organisations and we’d like to share our experience."

The benefits that Yarlington has seen from the system includes improvement to the quality of decision making through better informed and more consistent access to integrated, accurate and current shared information resources, which in turn has led to significant efficiency cost savings.

The final results of the awards will be announced in November.
