Sgt Jamie Rees told parents this afternoon (Tuesday, October 1) that more patrols would be carried out in the area for the “foreseeable future.”

“We will be here for the foreseeable future,” he said. “For the next week at least by which stage we are hoping to have arrested someone.”

Two incidents took place at around 3pm in Birchfield Park on Saturday (September 28, 2013) and another incident happened yesterday (Monday, September 30, 2013) in Rosebery Avenue.

Sgt Rees said he thought that all three incidents were unconnected.

Hedges and bushes at Birchfield Park have been cut back today in a bid to remove any hideaways where offenders could lie in wait and pick out targets.

Sgt Rees said that the hedge removal was all about trying to make the park a safer place for people – especially children – to use.

“We want to limit the hidden areas,” he said.

Anyone with information about the incidents - regardless of how trivial they might think it is - is urged to contact police on 101. If you see what you believe to be a crime in progress - call 999.
