Drivers ignore 30mph limit in Preston RoadCOUNCILLORS will hear tomorrow (Tuesday, September 17) that drivers are ignoring the 30mph speed limit along Preston Road in Yeovil.

Somerset County Council carried out Speed Indicator Device readings from August 14-31 along Preston Road which is governed by a 30mph speed limit and recorded a total of 45,078 traffic movements.

More than half of those were found to be going over the speed limit with 37 in excess of 50mph, while a further 822 were going between 40mph and 50mph.

A total of 23,481 were going between 30mph and 40mph, while 20,738 were recorded to be travelling within the speed limit.

Members of Yeovil Town Council’s buildings and civic matters committee will tomorrow discuss the results.

More Speed Indicator Device readings will be taken in Yeovil at other locations at Goldcroft and Lysander   Road.
