Hot stuff at the Signature Viceroy

DANIEL Bascombe was certainly hot, hot, hot when he took up the challenge laid down on a plate for him at the Signature Viceroy restaurant in Yeovil.

Daniel, 32, bravely ploughed his way through the Indian restaurant’s devilishly hot chicken curry infused with the world’s hottest chilli, the Naga, to win the Hero of Our Hottest Dish competition.

With all the sweat and tears shed that evening, Daniel beat off 24 other competitors and before he could cry out "Phew, what a scorcher!", the curry-loving chilli fan scoffed the curry and its side of puluo rice in just four minutes and 15 seconds, displaying his true colours as the Hero of the Hottest Dish!Hot stuff at the Signature Viceroy

To drown out his sweltering and burning palate, Daniel was quick to down a sweet lassi and cool himself off.

Signature Viceroy’s owner and managing director, Luthfur Rahman, and general manager, Luke Mofre, were on hand to congratulate Daniel.

Luthfur presented Daniel with a certificate bearing his name as the winner along with a gift voucher to dine at Signature Viceroy.

In addition, Daniel's name will even feature on the menu from now on as the scorching chicken item has been added on to the restaurant's dish selection.

“This was a truly fun evening,” said Luthfur. “We had so many people eager to try and eat a dish containing chillies that practically carry a warning sign and it was very, very fearless of them!

“But in the end there had to be one winner and Daniel showed that no matter how hot it got under the collar or even on his tongue, he will soldier on and finish the dish. We are all very proud of him.”
