A PACKED day of music at the Red House pub on the outskirts of Yeovil should have raised a bucket load of cash for the Piers Simon Appeal.

The one-day festival was held yesterday (Saturday, August 31, 2013) and music-lovers descended on the pub in Dorchester Road to support the event.

A spokesman for the Red House said that it had been “fantastic” and would like to thank everyone for their support.

Luke Simon, of the Piers Simon Appeal, who was in attendance along with other members of his family, said they were delighted with the event and would like to thank the Red House for their support.

The Piers Simon Appeal and its associated School in a Bag initiative was formed following the death of Piers, a former Yeovil College student, in the Boxing Day tsunami of 2004 while on holiday in Thailand.

It helps to fund projects in areas around the globe hit by natural disasters, while the School in a Bag provides everday, but vital equipment for children in poverty-stricken countries.

The music festival on Saturday was the second event of the weekend for the Red House in a specially-erected marquee within the pub grounds.

On Friday night the marquee was packed with people enjoying the terrific sounds of DT8, while today (Sunday, September 1) it played host to a wedding fair.
