Exam Results 2013: Great results at Leweston School

THE Leweston School in Sherborne has been celebrating record A-Level results for the second time in three years.

Sixth Form girls achieved a 100% pass rate and 72% of the A-Levels were passed at grade A* to B or Pre-U equivalent with a record 20% of the results passed at A* grade or Pre-U equivalent.

Fifty-two per cent of the results at the girls-only school were passed at A* or A grades or Pre-U equivalent, double the national average and Leweston is delighted that a pupil has achieved the school’s first ever D1 at Cambridge Pre-U.Exam Results 2013: Great results at Leweston School

This exceptional grade is above the standard required for an A* at A Level and is a truly outstanding achievement.  An impressive 34% of students achieved 3 or more straight A or A* grades across a range of subjects.

Average UCAS points per candidate were 383, the equivalent of over three A grades per candidate.  It was also a record breaking year for Leweston at AS Level with 73% of examinations passed at grade A or B.

These results have enabled almost all Leweston’s leavers to win places at their chosen universities or specialist colleges.

Headmaster Adrian Aylward said: “I am delighted with what is another strong set of results at Leweston across the whole ability range.

"I am particularly pleased that all our Oxbridge and Medical School candidates have been successful in meeting their offers, further building on our record of success in this area.

"These outstanding achievements pay testament to the hard work of the pupils and the work ethic of the school. These girls should be justifiably proud of their success and they will undoubtedly continue to thrive in their further studies.."
