Exam results 2013: Yeovil College celebrates

YEOVIL College students are celebrating today (Thursday, August 15, 2013) after achieving an outstanding overall A-Level pass rate of 99% for the fifth year in a row, as well as a 90% pass rate at AS-Level.

For students on full-time A-Level programmes of three or more subjects, 70% of all passes were at A*-C grade.

Perfect 100% pass rates were achieved in 19 of 21 A-Level subject areas, including Geography, History, Law, Sociology, Fine Art and Business Studies.

Yeovil College students continue to show strength in traditional subjects including Mathematics (100% pass rate), Further Maths (100%), Chemistry (100%) and Biology (100%).Exam results 2013: Yeovil College celebrates

Students who took Accounting, Photography, Computing, Philosophy and Fashion & Textiles achieved 100% A-C grades. There were rates of 60% of Photography passes and 33% of Fashion & Textiles results at A* to A grade.

Successes on the day reflected the wide range of students who chose Yeovil College to help them reach their personal and career goals.

Laura Bailey, 18, of Yeovil, received two A grades in Business Studies and Law and a B in English Language.

She said: “I’m going to Bournemouth University to do Business Studies.  I’ve really enjoyed learning about the subject at Yeovil College and want a career in that area.

“It’s so varied, including things like marketing, HR and finance.  The staff at Yeovil College are so supportive.  If you have any questions or problems, they will help sort it out.”

Laura is a former Preston Academy pupil.

Beth Hannam, 18, of Yeovil, earned A grades in Photography and Textiles, as well as a B in English Language.

Beth said “I will be going to the University of Leeds to study Fashion Marketing.  I really enjoyed the experience of being at college.  I’ve made some good friends and the teachers were great.”

Henry Crabb, 21, of Sherborne, did A-Levels at another institution before deciding to come to Yeovil College.

He said: “Today, I got an A* in Maths, B in Biology and C in Computing, which is a serious improvement on my last results.  I think I’d grown up a lot by the time I came to Yeovil College and knew what I wanted to do.  Also, the enthusiasm of the teachers here is amazing.  They love their subject and it shows.  They are the best teachers I’ve ever had.”
