Power cut across Yeovil

SOUTHERN Electric Power Distribution is thanking people across the Yeovil area for their patience following a widespread power cut across the town.

The loss of power struck earlier today and affected many shops in the town centre which forced them to close.

A spokesman for Southern Electric said: “We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused and will give updates on the situation as more information becomes available.

“Engineers are continuing to investigate the fault on our high voltage network and are concentrating efforts in the Yeovil town centre.

“We would hope to have the majority of homes restored by 4pm – however customers in the immediate area of the fault will be off for longer while repairs are completed.”

It is understood that problems arose following a fault at a local sub-station.
