Yarlington get tough with drug dealers

YARLINGTON Housing Group has told tenants that it will have “no hesitation” in taking action against people using their properties as drug dens.

It comes after a man was excluded from a Yarlington property in Crewkerne for three months after Avon and Somerset Police obtained a ‘crackhouse closure order’ from South Somerset Magistrates.

The police worked in partnership with the man’s landlord, Yarlington, who provided vital information and witness statements from a number of residents regarding his conduct over many months.Yarlington get tough with drug dealers

Yarlington had recently secured an injunction against the man through the County Court as a result of him threatening other residents, causing noise nuisance and disturbances within the property.

Yarlington also obtained an ‘exclusion order’ against a second man, who was a regular visitor to the property and also acted in a threatening manner and was a known drug-user. He has been prohibited from entering the area.

The housing group’s community safety manager, Joseph Mullis, said: “We are very pleased to have successfully gained these orders in partnership with the police and local community.

“Anti-social behaviour is an extremely emotive issue that can have serious detrimental and long lasting effects on individuals and communities.

“Yarlington has clearly demonstrated that we will not hesitate to take action against tenants and non-tenants who make other people’s lives a misery.”
