Police have issued an appeal for witnesses following a serious road collision in Crewkerne. They were called to an incident involving a car and bicycle at 4.30pm yesterday on the A30 between Crewkerne and Haselbury Plucknett.

The cyclist, a 53-year-old man from Yeovil, was taken to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol with serious injuries.

Police closed the road to enable a detailed examination of the scene by the collision investigation unit. The road was re-opened at about 8.15pm.

The collision investigation unit would now like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident and may have information to help the police.
