A WOMAN had her hands bitten as she intervened in a dog attack in Yeovil.

The incident occurred yesterday (Tuesday, July 23) afternoon at the Ninesprings area of the town behind the Bowlplex ten-pin bowling complex.Dog bites woman at Ninesprings

A police spokesman said: “A woman was walking her small terrier along the footpath when another dog attacked it.

“The victim intervened and was bitten on both hands and had to visit the hospital for treatment to her injuries.”

The dog is described as a black/brown 'staffie'-type dog, possibly a cross-bread. It was on a lead and was being walked by two girls who were white, had long blonde hair and who were joined by a third person wearing a baseball cap who then walked off with the dog.

An investigation has begun and we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or knows who the dog belongs too.

Anyone who can help should contact PC Sue Smith on 101.
