Casualty air-lifted to hospital

Casualty air-lifted to hospitalFIREFIGHTERS from Yeovil were called out this evening following an incident in which somebody got trapped beneath the trailer of a tractor.

The alarm was raised at just after 6.45pm at Bayford Hill, Wincanton, and two fire engines from Wincanton and Castle Cary, plus a rescue tender from Yeovil, were mobilised.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews found one person trapped under the trailer and got to work stabilising this using road rescue equipment and air bags.”

Paramedics were also on the scene and the Air Ambulance was also called, while police attended.

Firefighters were able to lift and secure the trailer while ambulance staff removed the casualty who was then taken to hospital by helicopter.
