Really wild day in Yeovil

A SECOND annual Really Wild Day in Yeovil – offering a range of fun activities for people of all ages – has been hailed a success.

The day, organised by Bridgwater College’s Yeovil Centre on the edge of Yeovil at Lufton, was an excellent opportunity for people to see the facilities on offer and to take part in activities that included a climbing wall, bouncy castle, raffle, face painting, tractor driving, ferret racing and, perhaps the most popular event, a dog show.

The dog show attracted over 30 entries in categories such as ‘most handsome’, ‘golden oldie’ and ‘best trick’.

One entrant in particular, Brew - a Staffordshire bull terrier - seemed to capture the hearts of everybody, coming third in ‘most handsome’, first in ‘dog the judge would most like to take home’ and, most importantly, taking the top prize of ‘best in show’.Really wild day in Yeovil

Brew is currently in the Dogs for Adoption rescue centre at St. Giles’ Kennels and is looking for a home.

Other visitor favourites included meeting some of the 200 animals kept at the centre including corn snakes, bearded dragons and marmosets.

The day raised over £270 for the charity Dogs Helping Kids, which is dedicated to using highly trained dogs to help teach children calming emotions such as empathy, respect and trust.
