A YEOVIL nursery - which has undergone a £250,000 renovation and expansion – has officially opened its doors to showcase the improvements to parents.

The Mama Bear’s Day Nursery and Pre-school on Houndstone Close, AbbeyManorPark, welcomed over 100 parents, children and local dignitaries to the open day with many of the parents taking advantage of the free registration offer and signing their children up for care.

The new setting, which will have capacity for 68 children from three months to five years, was officially opened by Cllr Carol Goodall and Laurence Willis, from South Somerset District Council, Jonathan Allison, from YeovilDistrictHospital, and special guests Mama Bear and Peppa Pig.

The investment comes as part of a merger between the South Somerset District Council Nursery and the YeovilDistrictHospital’s nursery, which Mama Bear’s Day Nursery acquired last September.

Nursery manager Helen Packard said: “It was so exciting to open the doors to the new nursery and welcome parents already with us as well as some new parents who were able to see how we work.Peppa Pig pops into town

“The open day was a great success and we’re thrilled that the parents and children loved it, we’ve received lots of compliments already.

“The transformation is unbelievable and we’re very proud of what has been created. A lot of time has gone into planning the different areas and the new garden so that all children are provided with the highest level of care and can excel while with us.’’

The new nursery features a new garden with grass area, age-specific rooms, a sensory room, milk kitchen and sleep room.

The nursery has recently been awarded a ‘good’ rating by Ofsted with the inspector stating that the nursery is bright and welcoming and activities provide children with a broad range of experiences that promote their learning in all areas.
